Clinic Deep Dive: What It Really Takes to Complete Tattoo Removal with Clean Canvas Laser

We worked with Clean Canvas Laser so that you can have a better understanding of what it takes to fully remove a tattoo. These numbers come directly from people who have completed their tattoo removal journey using the Quanta Q-Plus C laser.

Total Number of Sessions

• 11.8% required 1 - 3 sessions

• 23.5% required 4 - 6 sessions

• 35.3% required 7 - 10 sessions

• 11.8% required 11 - 15 sessions

• 17.6% required 15+ sessions

Takeaway:

Most tattoos that reach full removal need at least 7 sessions, and nearly one in five take 15 or more. It’s a long process but that consistency is what gets results.

Time Between Treatments

• 29.4% waited 8 - 12 weeks

• 70.6% waited more than 12 weeks

The team at Clean Canvas Laser recommends waiting at least 12 to 24 weeks between treatments, depending on where you are in the process. They emphasize that successful tattoo removal isn’t just about the number of sessions, it’s about the health of your immune system. Lasers break down the ink, but it’s your body that does the real work of clearing it away.

Cost per Session

• 52.9% paid $100 - $250

• 35.3% paid $250 - $400

• 11.8% paid $400+

Takeaway:

Most Clean Canvas patients finished removal paying between $100–$400 per session… a solid mid-range pricing for good results. This data doesn’t factor in tattoo size (we’ll cover that in a future update), but it gives a fair benchmark for what people are actually paying at reputable clinics. If you’re seeing quotes much higher or much lower, it’s worth asking why. 

Total Duration to Complete Removal

• 5.9% took less than 1 year

• 17.6% took 1 - 1.5 years

• 5.9% took 1.5 - 2 years

• 11.8% took 2 - 2.5 years

• 11.8% took 2.5 - 3 years

• 47.1% took 3+ years

Takeaway:

Nearly half of the tattoos in this dataset took 3 years or more to reach full removal. Tattoo removal is a marathon, not a sprint and the most successful results seem to come from those who give their skin time to recover and stay consistent through the process.
